Don't Give Up Hope! (Update for June 26th)

 Hello Church Family!

I hope you had a great week. Yesterday I had a chance to attend my first wedding
of the summer. The daughter of a friend I grew up with got married. As this couple was celebrating the start to a new life together, my mind drifted off to a passage in
Jeremiah 29. The Israelites were being exiled to Babylon. Things looked pretty bleak. And yet what did God want the Israelites to do? Not mope and cry out, "Woe is me!" Starting in verse 5...

“Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decrease. Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”

What is God saying? Continue on with life! Work to the betterment of yourselves and others! Don't give up hope! God is still with you! I was reminded that even though the times we live in can be difficult, our God is still on the throne and our hope for the future is secure. We can still celebrate! God is still at work!

This Sunday is Communion Sunday. We have an opportunity to pause and remember all that God through Christ has done for us. We will also hear another great Summer Camp Report. Come and celebrate with us!

 Service Focus this Sunday:

We continue our sermon series called Know It All: What Happens When You Don't. Sometimes in life we come into a situation when we thought we knew it all... and then we discover that we don't. In our four-week series, we will meet four individuals in the Bible who felt like they knew it all. We will discover how our attitudes in those cases will either work against us or cause us to move closer to Christ.

Last week we looked at the "innocent" know it alls... who thought they knew but found out they didn't. We were encouraged to take a good look at Jesus in the gospels and analyze our beliefs to make sure they are correct. I hope you spent some time in God's Word this last week!

This week we will go to the other extreme and look at the Pharisees. They stood for purity and yet ended up on the wrong side. It's an interesting paradox. What might God be saying to us?

And as I mentioned, this Sunday is also Communion Sunday. We will be partaking in the Lord's Supper early on in the service, so make sure to pick up your elements on the way into the sanctuary. If you are online, be prepared for this. We will also have another Summer Camp Report.

Join us Sunday at 10:30am either onsite or online! The link to the online service is on our website at (www.emmettnaz.org) and click on the Link to the Service.
