Step Off the Platform! (Update for Aug 21)

 Hello Church Family!

This last weekend about 60 of us went off to Family Camp at Trinity Pines. On the challenge course there, one of the things you can try is the Zipline. The Zipline is intimidating because you fly along a rope above all of these tall trees.

But honestly, the more difficult part is climbing the tree to get to the platform where you start the Zipline. And honestly, maybe the most difficult part is stepping off the platform once you get to the top of the tree. It just doesn't seem natural to walk off a perfectly good platform into wide open space!

The picture here are Ivy climbing the tree and stepping off the platform. Great job Ivy! There are two strategies to getting yourself off that platform. One is to simply step off the end. But the other is to just sit down in your straps and let gravity do its thing. Either way is an amazing thrill ride!

I can't help but think about our spiritual lives with this. One way to grow in the Lord is to take the bull by the horns and just step off. Sometimes we need to just do it, don't we? Trust and obey!

But there are other times when all we can do is just rest in the Lord... put ourselves into the safety of His hands and let Him have His way with us. Sometimes it is just all we can do to let go of control and let God do His thing!

And I think that we can testify that either way we have found that God is faithful!

This Sunday, we are in the fourth week of our sermon series called Retold: Sunday School Stories You Thought You KnewThis week we will focus on the story of the Crossing of the Red Sea. I think the Israelites had a similar struggle in trusting God! And it is not because God hadn't been faithful in the past! He had! The key I think is remembering. Remembering that God is good... and trustworthy. What might God be saying to you?
