Running an Endurance Race - Update for February 26th

 Hello Church Family!

Hope you are doing well! Can you believe that we are almost through February?

One of my friends in Wyoming has a passion for endurance runs. These are long, long runs. One that he recently completed was 240 miles... and through the mountains no less! One could certainly argue that the human body is not designed for such things.

But isn't it interesting that multiple times in Scripture our lives are compared to a race? Look at Hebrews 12:1-2.

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith."

So what if our lives are one long race? And I really don't think it is a normal race where everyone is competing against each other... but everyone is helping each other as we lean into following Jesus. Can you imagine the comradery we should have for each other? Cheering each other on! That's one of the goals of Sunday mornings, isn't it? To encourage each other.

But also within that longer race there are some other long races that we would like to do well in. Relationships with family and friends... even marriage... are things that God cares about as well. And how about the race we run if we have the means of grace called raising kids? That's a long-term endeavor... and one that we can never be fully prepared for. Let's trust in the Lord together as we strive to run and finish these races well!

This Sunday we finish our sermon series on love with a look at endurance. And we will also celebrate a baby dedication! What a perfect combo!
